A 30 litre yellow tank sits on a green wheeled frame with a push handle; the spray heads are covered by a green snap-clip cover that releases and swings down in one pull, and a green waste bin rides on the lower deck to catch the runoff. There is no water line, no drain and no power.

Yellow is the reason this tank is easy to find: on a yard full of green frames and grey plant, the tank itself is the marker, and it stays visible from a distance and in low light.

Why 30 Litres

• One-person handling – a full 30 L tank is light enough for an adult to wheel and, when needed, lift between vehicles or bays.

• Small footprint – fits beside a bench, in a van or at the end of a container without blocking the aisle.

• Short-range response – sized for work where a plumbed station is a short walk away, so the cart only has to carry the first minutes of flushing.

• Honest limit – at a nominal 11.4 L/min eyewash flow, 30 L gives roughly two and a half minutes. That is a first-response duration, not a fifteen-minute facility; measure it and mark it on the unit.

Snap-Clip Cover

• One motion – the clip releases with a pull and the cover swings down, exposing the heads and starting the flow.

• Dust and grit stay out – the cover sits over the nozzles when the cart is parked in a workshop or on a site.

• Obvious in a hurry – the green cover with the eye pictogram is the only thing at chest height, so there is nothing to interpret.

• Simple to reset – clip the cover back up after refilling; no tools.

Setting Up and Weekly Care

1. Fill with clean tepid water through the top cap and close it firmly.

2. Wheel the cart to the hazard, on level ground, brake the castors.

3. Release the snap clip, let the cover swing down and check both heads run clear.

4. Time how long the tank lasts and mark the figure on the unit.

5. Weekly: replace the water, run the unit briefly, wipe the heads and cover.

6. After use: empty the waste bin, refill the tank, clip the cover back and return the cart to its position.

Maintenance

• Weekly water change is the main task; standing water is where contamination starts.

• Monthly: check the snap clip and hinge, the heads, the cap seal and the castor brakes.

• Quarterly: sanitise and rinse the tank; check the label for legibility.

• Annually: inspect the tank for crazing and the frame for corrosion at the welds.

Standards and Compliance

ANSI Z358.1 calls for a fifteen-minute flush. A 30 L gravity cart delivers a fraction of that at eyewash flow, so it is a first-response unit that must lead to a plumbed station — measure and mark the duration, change the water weekly, keep it tepid where the standard requires it, and keep the cart within about ten seconds of the hazard with a clear approach.
