A combination shower and eyewash on a green column, freeze protected by a heated riser, with the control gear mounted on the station itself rather than in a separate panel. The controller carries a display, a keypad and two cable glands — one for the supply, one for the trace — and sits at standing height where it can be read without a ladder.
That arrangement matters at commissioning and at every annual check: the setpoint, the current temperature and any alarm can be read at the unit, recorded, and compared year on year, instead of being buried in a plant room.
Setpoint at the station – visible on the display, so the figure in the maintenance record can be checked against the unit in front of you.
No separate panel – fewer cable runs across a yard, one less enclosure to locate and label.
Both glands on the box – supply and trace terminate at the same place, which simplifies fault-finding.
Local indication – a walk-round can confirm the trace is alive without opening anything.
Trade-off stated – the electronics sit outdoors on the unit; the enclosure, glands and cable entries are the parts that fail first, so they are on the monthly round.
Against the frost-valve station – that unit needs no power but needs a drain under the base; this one needs power and needs no drain.
Against the basic heat-traced unit – same traced riser, but with the controller, display and keypad on the column rather than a simple control box.
Against a standard station – no electrical supply at all, and no freeze protection: for heated indoor sites only.
Green square column – painted steel, bolted stainless base plate.
Stainless shower head – forward arm, full-body coverage.
Stainless eyewash basin – twin nozzles with caps, on a side bracket.
Triangular pull rod – stainless, stay-open shower valve.
Heat trace controller – display, keypad, two cable glands, bracket-mounted at standing height.

Bolt the base plate down and check the column is plumb.
Connect the supply with an upstream isolation valve and flush the line.
Bring the supply and trace cables into the controller through their own glands; check earth continuity.
Set the trace thermostat to the figure required for the site's lowest ambient temperature and record it.
Confirm the display reads correctly, the trace warms the riser with the supply closed, and any alarm clears.
Set the shower and eyewash flows to the table figures, then label the circuit at the board.
Weekly: operate both functions, check flows, wipe basin and nozzles, confirm the controller is powered and showing its normal reading.
Monthly: check the enclosure, glands and cable entries for water ingress or damage; compare the displayed setpoint with the record.
Before frost: prove the trace with the supply closed, test the alarm circuit, and confirm the breaker is labelled.
Annually: insulation resistance test on the trace, terminal check inside the controller, and a logged comparison of setpoint and ambient.
After an outage: re-check the reading and the riser before relying on the station; a frozen column may be split even if it looks intact.
Designed to meet ANSI Z358.1-2014 for shower and eyewash flow, hands-free operation and simultaneous use. Freeze protection does not replace tepid water: the standard still expects a supply that is not at freezing temperature, and a traced riser does not warm cold mains water by itself. Electrical work must comply with local requirements and be carried out by a competent person; siting within about ten seconds of the hazard, weekly activation and signage remain site responsibilities.
Outdoor process areas, loading bays, tank farms, roof plant, unheated warehouses, and cold-climate sites where the maintenance record has to show a documented setpoint and the station is checked by walking up to it.
Order by model RYFHS-FR03. Please state supply voltage and phase, the lowest ambient temperature the trace must handle, inlet size and whether a tepid water mixing valve is required. The frost-valve freeze resistant station, the basic heat-traced station and standard combination stations are also available.
