Product Overview

This combination station keeps the body and the pipework in stainless steel but gives the overhead shower a large yellow ABS head. The colour is the point: in a plant where everything is grey, white or stainless, a yellow deluge head at head height is visible from the end of the aisle, which shortens the time it takes an injured person or a colleague to find the station. The ABS head is also unaffected by hard water scale build-up on the outside and does not develop the surface staining that plated heads pick up over time.

The eyewash basin is stainless steel with yellow dust caps that match the shower head, and a green safety sign is fixed to the column so the function is clear at a glance. The column anchors to the floor through a bolted flange, so no platform or pit is needed.

Why a Yellow ABS Head

  • Visibility – the large yellow bowl is the first thing seen in a low-contrast plant, which matters in the ten seconds that follow a splash.

  • Colour that stays – the pigment is in the material rather than a coating, so the head does not turn grey, flake or rust at the dents and edges.

  • No external scale – hard water leaves deposits on the outside of metal heads; the ABS surface sheds it and wipes clean.

  • Replaceable part – the head is a single moulded piece that can be swapped without disturbing the arm or the valve, which keeps downtime short.

Key Features

  • Large yellow ABS deluge head – wide bowl spreading the flow over head and shoulders for full-body coverage.

  • Pull-wire shower control – stainless wire with a triangular handle; the stay-open valve keeps the deluge running while contaminated clothing is removed.

  • Stainless eyewash basin – twin aerated heads at an upward angle flush both eyes at low pressure, protected by yellow flip dust caps.

  • Green identification sign – mounted at the basin so the eyewash is recognisable from the walkway.

  • Single stainless column – pipework runs inside the column and feeds shower and eyewash from one inlet.

  • Bolted floor flange – anchors directly to a level floor; no platform, pit or drain tray.

  • Assembled and flow tested – head, valves and basin assembled and tested before packing.

Operation

  1. Reach the station within 10 seconds of the hazard; the yellow head marks the position from a distance.

  2. For eye or face contact, press the eyewash plate, hold the eyelids open with thumbs and forefingers and roll the eyes so water reaches every surface.

  3. For body contamination, pull the triangular handle; the deluge keeps running without being held.

  4. Flush for at least 15 minutes and remove contaminated clothing under the running water, then seek medical attention.

  5. Close the shower valve and the eyewash plate, and leave the approach clear.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Position on a level, load-bearing floor on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' walking distance and clear of doors, racking and traffic lanes.

  • Anchor through the floor flange with fixings suited to the floor; check the column is plumb before final tightening.

  • Flush the supply line, connect the 1-1/4 inch inlet, pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa and check the split to shower and eyewash for leaks.

  • Operate the pull wire and the eyewash plate, confirm the shower stays open when released, and check that the ABS head sits level so the spray pattern is even.

  • Verify flow rates and, where the site requires tepid water, fit a thermostatic mixing valve upstream.

  • Fix the identification sign at eye level and record the commissioning date.

Maintenance

  • Weekly: operate both functions and confirm the shower valve stays open and the eyewash closes cleanly.

  • Monthly: wipe the ABS head and clean the eyewash nozzles, dust caps and inlet filter; check the wire and handle for fraying or wear.

  • Quarterly: inspect the basin, column and flange bolts for corrosion or loosening, and check the head for cracks.

  • Annually: measure flow rates, replace worn nozzles, caps or a damaged head, and re-tag the station.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154 for combination emergency shower and eyewash equipment: hands-free eyewash activation, a stay-open shower valve, twin eyewash heads delivering a controlled low-pressure flush, and shower coverage of the whole body. Correct location — same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with heads at the heights set by the standard — is part of compliance and should be verified at commissioning.

Applications

Chemical and petrochemical plants, university and industrial laboratories, food and beverage production, paint and coating shops, battery and semiconductor lines, water treatment works and warehouses where a station has to be found quickly in a busy or low-contrast area.
