Product Overview

This station combines a full-body drench shower and a twin-head eyewash on one stainless steel column, and adds a circular curtain rail at head height with white curtain panels that can be drawn around the user. The curtain gives the casualty privacy while clothing is removed, and it also keeps the flushing water and contaminated run-off inside a defined area instead of spreading into the aisle.

The unit is anchored straight to the floor through a bolted flange, so it needs no platform or pit. Everything exposed to water — column, shower arm, basin, rail and hooks — is stainless steel, and the curtain is removable for washing or replacement.

Why the Circular Curtain

  • Privacy during decontamination – a full 15-minute flush usually means removing contaminated clothing. The curtain closes around the standing area so the casualty can do this in a shared workshop, laboratory or corridor without being overlooked.

  • Contains splash and run-off – the panels hang below the rail and stop water from being thrown sideways across the floor, which reduces the slip risk for people responding to the incident.

  • Ring rail on stainless hooks – the circular rail is carried on a stainless frame above the shower head; curtain panels hang from hooks that slide, so the opening can be positioned wherever the approach comes from.

  • Replaceable panels – curtains unhook for laundering or replacement without tools, which keeps the station presentable in customer-facing areas.

Key Features

  • Overhead deluge shower – large-diameter head with pull rod and yellow triangular handle; the stay-open valve keeps water running while clothing is removed.

  • Twin eyewash heads – two aerated nozzles at an upward angle flush both eyes together; yellow flip caps protect the nozzles between uses.

  • Floor flange mounting – a bolted base flange fixes the column directly to a level floor, so no platform, pit or drain tray is required.

  • Single stainless column – pipework runs inside the column and feeds both shower and eyewash from one inlet.

  • Identification plate – a yellow eyewash sign is mounted at the basin so the unit is visible from the walkway.

  • Assembled and tested – column, valves, rail and curtain are assembled and flow tested before packing.

Assembly and Installation

  1. Choose a position on a level floor on the same level as the hazard and within 10 seconds' walking distance, leaving room for the curtain to be drawn without touching walls or racking.

  2. Drill and set the anchors, seat the column on the floor flange and check that it is plumb before tightening the bolts.

  3. Fit the curtain rail frame above the shower head, check that the hooks slide freely, and hang the curtain panels so they clear the floor by a small gap.

  4. Flush the supply line, connect the 1-1/4 inch inlet and pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa, checking the internal split to shower and eyewash.

  5. Operate the shower rod and eyewash plate, confirm the shower stays open when released and that water is not thrown outside the curtain line.

  6. Fix the identification sign at eye level and record the commissioning date.

Operation

  1. Reach the station within 10 seconds, step under the shower and draw the curtain closed.

  2. For eye or face contact, press the eyewash plate and hold the eyelids open with thumbs and forefingers while rolling the eyes.

  3. For body contamination, pull the yellow triangular handle; the deluge continues without being held.

  4. Remove contaminated clothing under the running water, flushing for at least 15 minutes, then seek medical attention.

  5. Close the shower valve, open the curtain and leave the station clear for the next user.

Maintenance

  • Weekly: operate both functions, check flow and confirm the shower valve stays open.

  • Monthly: clean nozzles, dust caps and inlet filter; check the curtain hooks and rail for smooth movement.

  • Quarterly: wash or replace the curtain panels; inspect the column, rail and flange bolts for corrosion or loosening.

  • Annually: verify flow rates, inspect valve seals and re-tag the station.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154 for combination emergency shower and eyewash equipment: hands-free activation, a stay-open shower valve, twin eyewash heads for a controlled low-pressure flush, and shower coverage of the whole body. The curtain is an accessory for privacy and splash control and does not replace the requirement for correct location, access and water temperature. Installation on the same level as the hazard and within 10 seconds' travel must be verified at commissioning.

Applications

Chemical and pharmaceutical plants, university and industrial laboratories, food and beverage production, cosmetics and personal care lines, battery plants, and any workplace where a casualty has to undress and flush in view of colleagues, or where run-off must be kept away from adjoining work areas.

Ordering

Order by model RYFHS024. Options include 316L stainless steel, thermostatic mixing valve for tepid water, spare curtain panels, and a rail diameter suited to the available space. Please state supply pressure, ceiling height and the free floor area around the station when enquiring.
