Product Overview

A stainless steel combination station in which the eyewash is opened by a mechanical foot pedal at the base, connected to the eyewash valve by a chain, and the water reaches the face through twin nozzles set in an open basin. Nothing electrical is involved: press the pedal, the valve opens, the two streams rise into the basin. Release it and the flow stops.

The overhead deluge shower is operated by a pull cord with a triangular handle on a stay-open valve, so the shower keeps running while contaminated clothing is removed. The column stands on a bolted floor flange with a single supply connection, and a green PUSH sign at the basin marks the eyewash control.

Twin Nozzles, Open Basin

  • A stream for each eye – two nozzles set at a fixed angle so both eyes are flushed at once without the user having to steer a single head from side to side.

  • Individual dust caps – each nozzle carries its own cap, so a blocked or scaled nozzle can be seen and cleared on its own rather than disguised by a common cover.

  • No lid to lift – the basin stays open; the user goes straight to the pedal, which matters when hands are contaminated or gloves are on.

  • Simple to balance – flow can be trimmed per nozzle at commissioning so both eyes receive an even, low-pressure flush.

Mechanical Chain Pedal

  • No power, no solenoid – a chain pulls the valve lever directly, so the station works when the plant supply is down and needs no electrical isolation for maintenance.

  • Open-close in one movement – pedal down opens the valve, pedal up closes it; there is no separate handle to find.

  • Hands stay free – the whole eyewash phase is controlled by the foot, leaving both hands for the eyelids.

  • Adjustable stroke – the chain length is set at commissioning so the valve is fully open before the pedal reaches the floor.

Key Features

  • Chain-linked foot pedal – stainless pedal plate at the base, chain to the eyewash valve, adjustable stroke.

  • Twin eyewash nozzles – two capped spray heads in an open stainless basin.

  • Overhead deluge shower – large bowl-shaped head, pull cord with triangular handle, stay-open valve.

  • Green PUSH sign – identifies the eyewash control at the basin.

  • Single inlet – one 1-1/4 inch supply for both functions; simpler pipework and one isolation point.

  • 304 stainless steel – column, basin, shower arm and pedal in polished stainless.

  • Bolted floor flange – fixed to a level floor; no platform or pit.

Operation

  1. Reach the station within 10 seconds and stand at the basin with the pedal under one foot.

  2. Press the pedal; both nozzles start and the two streams rise into the basin.

  3. Hold the eyelids open with thumbs and forefingers and roll the eyes so the flow reaches under the lids; keep the foot on the pedal for the whole flush.

  4. For body contamination, pull the triangular handle; the shower valve stays open until pushed back.

  5. Flush for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention; release the pedal and close the shower valve afterwards.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Position on a level, load-bearing floor on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with clear standing room at the pedal and under the shower head.

  • Anchor through the floor flange and check the column is plumb before final tightening.

  • Connect the single supply, flush the line first, then pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa.

  • Adjust the chain length so the eyewash valve is fully open before the pedal reaches the floor, and so the valve closes completely on release.

  • Trim the two nozzles until the streams are even and both fall inside the basin without splashing over the rim.

  • Confirm the shower stays open when the cord is released, fix the PUSH sign, record flow rates and the commissioning date.

Maintenance

  • Weekly: press the pedal and confirm both nozzles start and stop together; check the caps and clear any dust.

  • Monthly: clean both nozzles and the shower head face; check the chain for wear, kinks or slack and adjust if needed.

  • Quarterly: inspect the pedal plate, chain anchor and valve lever for corrosion or binding; check the column and flange bolts.

  • Annually: measure eyewash and shower flow, replace worn seals, caps or the chain, and re-tag the unit.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154: hands-free eyewash activation, a stay-open shower valve, controlled low-pressure eyewash flow and full-body shower coverage. The mechanical pedal satisfies the hands-free requirement as long as it opens the valve fully and holds the flow while depressed, and as long as it can be reached from the standing position at the basin. Installation on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with heads at the heights set by the standard, must be verified at commissioning.

Applications

Chemical and pharmaceutical plants, plating and surface treatment, workshops with dust or particulate exposure, battery plants, food processing, and unpowered or outdoor areas where a mechanical control is preferred over an electrically operated one.

Ordering

Order by model RYFHS031. Please state supply pressure and water quality, floor type, whether a thermostatic mixing valve is required, and the required basin height. Single-nozzle and flip-cover versions of the same column are available if twin open nozzles do not suit the site standard.
