Product Overview

A floor-mounted stainless steel combination station that keeps both hands free when they are needed most: the eyewash is started with a foot pedal pressed at the base, so the user can hold the eyelids open with both thumbs and forefingers from the first second of the flush. The basin carries a single large nozzle instead of twin heads — one wide stream, one orifice to keep clean, and no small ports to clog with dust or scale.

The overhead deluge shower is operated by a yellow triangular pull handle on a stay-open valve and covers the whole body in seconds. One inlet feeds both functions, the column stands on a bolted floor flange, and a yellow PUSH sign at the basin marks the eyewash control.

Foot Pedal and Single Nozzle Together

  • No hands on the valve – in the first seconds after a splash the instinct is to get to the water and open the eyes. The pedal removes the step of finding and pressing a plate with contaminated hands.

  • Both hands free for the eyelids – flushing only works if the eyelids are held open and rolled; with foot control that starts immediately rather than after the plate is pressed.

  • One stream, both eyes – the single nozzle delivers a broad low-pressure pattern that the user can centre first on one eye and then the other by moving the head, without a splitter to misalign.

  • Fewer parts to foul – one orifice and no aerator screens, which is the usual cause of a weak or uneven eyewash stream in service.

  • Open basin – no lid to lift and nothing to hold open; the trade-off is that the nozzle needs its weekly check for dust, which takes seconds.

Key Features

  • Foot pedal at the base – pressed with the foot to start the eyewash, released to stop; linked to the eyewash valve at the column.

  • Single large nozzle – wide soft stream covering both eyes, quick to inspect and clean.

  • Overhead deluge shower – large bowl-shaped head, yellow triangular pull handle, stay-open valve.

  • Yellow PUSH sign – fixed at the basin to identify the eyewash control.

  • One inlet for both functions – a single supply connection at the column; simpler pipework than a two-line unit.

  • 304 stainless steel – column, basin and shower arm in polished stainless, resistant to chemical splash and washdown.

  • Bolted floor flange – fixed to a level floor, no platform or pit.

Operation

  1. Reach the station within 10 seconds of the hazard and stand at the basin, facing the nozzle.

  2. Press the foot pedal to start the eyewash; keep the foot down for as long as flushing continues.

  3. Hold the eyelids open with thumbs and forefingers and roll the eyes so the stream reaches under the lids; move the head to bring each eye in turn into the centre of the stream.

  4. For body contamination, pull the yellow triangular handle; the shower valve stays open until pushed back, leaving both hands free to remove clothing.

  5. Flush for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention; release the pedal and close the shower valve afterwards.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Position on a level, load-bearing floor on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with clear standing room at the pedal and under the shower head.

  • Anchor through the floor flange and check the column is plumb.

  • Connect the single supply, flush the line before connection, then pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa.

  • Set the pedal travel so the eyewash opens fully before the pedal reaches the floor, and confirm it closes when released.

  • Check the nozzle stream is centred in the basin with no splash outside the bowl, and that the shower stays open when the handle is released.

  • Fix the PUSH sign at the basin, record flow rates and the commissioning date.

Maintenance

  • Weekly: press the pedal and confirm the eyewash starts and stops cleanly; check the nozzle for dust and the shower for full coverage.

  • Monthly: clean the nozzle and the shower head face; inspect the pedal linkage and its pivot for wear or sticking.

  • Quarterly: check the column, flange bolts and inlet joint for leaks or corrosion; confirm the signs are legible.

  • Annually: measure eyewash and shower flow, replace seals or the nozzle if flow has dropped, and re-tag the unit.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154: hands-free eyewash activation, a stay-open shower valve, a controlled low-pressure eyewash flush and full-body shower coverage. Foot-pedal operation satisfies the hands-free requirement provided the pedal opens the valve fully and the flow continues while the pedal is held; the pedal must be reachable from the standing position at the basin. Installation on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with heads at the heights set by the standard, must be verified at commissioning.

Applications

Chemical and pharmaceutical plants, workshops with dust or particulate exposure, plating and surface treatment lines, battery plants, food processing and any production area where operators wear gloves or work with both hands occupied at the moment of exposure.

Ordering

Order by model RYFHS030. Please state the supply pressure and water quality, the floor type, whether a thermostatic mixing valve is required, and the required basin height. Twin-head and flip-cover versions of the same column are available where a single nozzle or an open basin does not suit the site standard.
