A stainless steel combination station with the eyewash on a mechanical chain pedal and a single large nozzle in an open basin. Stepping on the pedal pulls the eyewash valve open through a chain; lifting the foot closes it. Because the control is at floor level and needs no hands, the user can hold both eyelids open from the first second of the flush.
This version is also signed for use: a green pictogram instruction plate is mounted at the top of the column showing the shower and eyewash steps, and a yellow PUSH plate identifies the eyewash control at the basin. The overhead deluge shower runs on a yellow triangular pull handle and a stay-open valve; the column is 304 stainless on a bolted floor flange with a single supply connection.
Foot on, foot off – the eyewash phase is controlled entirely by the foot, so both hands stay on the eyelids rather than on a plate or handle.
One stream to direct – a single large aperture gives a wide, soft pattern; the user moves the head to walk the flow from one eye to the other and under each lid.
One orifice to keep clear – no aerator screens, no second head to balance; the weekly check is a glance and a wipe.
Mechanical, not electrical – the chain pulls the valve lever directly, so the station works when the plant supply is down and needs no electrical isolation for maintenance.
Green pictogram plate – shows the shower pull and the eyewash step in sequence, at the height a standing user sees first.
Yellow PUSH plate – marks the eyewash control on the basin so the pedal and its function are not left to guesswork.
Consistent with new-starter training – the same pictograms used in induction material, so the station can be used correctly by someone who has never stood at it before.
Chain-linked foot pedal – stainless pedal plate at the base, chain to the eyewash valve, adjustable stroke.
Single large nozzle – one wide soft stream in an open stainless basin.
Green instruction sign – pictogram plate on the column showing how to operate the station.
Yellow PUSH sign – identifies the eyewash control at the basin.
Overhead deluge shower – large bowl-shaped head, yellow triangular pull handle, stay-open valve.
Single inlet – one 1-1/4 inch supply for both functions, one isolation point.
304 stainless steel – column, basin, shower arm and pedal in polished stainless.
Bolted floor flange – fixed to a level floor; no platform or pit.

Reach the station within 10 seconds and stand at the basin with the pedal under one foot.
Press the pedal; the valve opens and the nozzle starts.
Hold the eyelids open with thumbs and forefingers and move the head so the stream passes over one eye, then the other, and under each lid; keep the foot down for the whole flush.
For body contamination, pull the yellow triangular handle; the shower valve stays open until pushed back.
Flush for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention; release the pedal and close the shower valve afterwards.
Position on a level, load-bearing floor on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with clear standing room at the pedal and under the shower head.
Anchor through the floor flange and check the column is plumb.
Connect the single supply, flush the line first, then pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa.
Set the chain length so the eyewash valve opens fully before the pedal reaches the floor, and closes completely when the foot is lifted.
Check the nozzle stream is centred in the basin and does not splash over the rim, and that the shower stays open when the handle is released.
Mount the green pictogram plate at the top of the column at reading height, fix the PUSH plate at the basin, record flow rates and the commissioning date.
Weekly: press the pedal and confirm the eyewash starts and stops cleanly; clear dust from the nozzle; check both signs are legible.
Monthly: clean the nozzle and the shower head face; check the chain for wear, kinks or slack and adjust the stroke if needed.
Quarterly: inspect the pedal plate, chain anchor and valve lever for corrosion or binding; check the column and flange bolts.
Annually: measure eyewash and shower flow, replace worn seals, the nozzle or the chain, and re-tag the unit.
The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154: hands-free eyewash activation, a stay-open shower valve, a controlled low-pressure eyewash flush, full-body shower coverage and clear signage identifying the equipment. The mechanical pedal satisfies the hands-free requirement provided it opens the valve fully, holds the flow while depressed and can be reached from the standing position at the basin. Installation on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with heads at the heights set by the standard, must be verified at commissioning.
Chemical and pharmaceutical plants, plating and surface treatment, workshops with dust exposure, battery plants, food processing, and sites where the station has to be usable by staff who have not been individually trained on it.
Order by model RYFHS034. Please state supply pressure and water quality, floor type, whether a thermostatic mixing valve is required, and the required basin height. Push-plate and twin-nozzle versions of the same column are available where a pedal or a single nozzle does not suit the site standard.
