Product Overview

This combination station is built for two practical site problems: a single available water point, and a floor without a drain. One 1-1/4 inch inlet feeds both the overhead drench shower and the twin eyewash heads, so the unit needs only one pipe run and one isolation valve. The station then stands on a stainless steel waste water collection tray — the perforated deck catches the flushing water and holds it until it is released through the tray outlet, which keeps the surrounding floor dry in workshops, mezzanines and plant rooms where washdown water has nowhere to go.

The column, shower arm, basin and tray are all stainless steel with a polished finish, so the station can be cleaned with water and will not corrode in damp or mildly aggressive atmospheres.

The Single Inlet Arrangement

Conventional combination units often need separate feeds for shower and eyewash. Here a single inlet rises into the column and splits internally to supply the shower valve at the top and the eyewash valve at basin height. For the installer this means one connection, one pressure test and one place to look if flow drops; for the user it means both functions always come from the same treated or tepid supply, so an upstream thermostatic mixing valve protects both at once.

Waste Water Collection Tray

  • Perforated stainless deck – the flat tray under the standing area lets water through into the tray body while giving a stable surface to stand on with wet boots.

  • Retains the flush volume – run-off from a full 15-minute flush is held inside the tray instead of spreading across the floor, which matters on upper floors, in clean rooms and in areas with electrical equipment nearby.

  • Outlet for emptying – the tray is emptied through its outlet to a container or drain line; where a permanent drain is available it can be connected and used continuously.

  • Lift-off access – the deck can be lifted for cleaning out sediment and debris after use.

Operation

  1. Reach the station within 10 seconds of the hazard and step onto the perforated tray deck.

  2. For eye or face exposure, press the eyewash plate to start both spray heads, then use the thumbs and forefingers to hold the eyelids open and roll the eyes.

  3. For body contamination, pull the yellow triangular handle; the shower valve stays open until it is deliberately pushed back.

  4. Flush for at least 15 minutes, removing contaminated clothing under the running water, then seek medical attention.

  5. Close the shower valve and the eyewash plate; empty or drain the collection tray before the station is returned to standby.

Connection and Drainage

  • Connect the single inlet to the supply and fit an isolation valve upstream so the station can be serviced without shutting down the area.

  • Flush the line before connection, then pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa and check the internal split to shower and eyewash for leaks.

  • If a floor drain is available, connect the tray outlet to it; if not, empty the tray through the outlet after each use or after the weekly test.

  • Where tepid water is required, install a thermostatic mixing valve on the single supply — one valve then serves both shower and eyewash.

Maintenance

  • Operate the shower and eyewash weekly and check that water is collected in the tray and does not overflow.

  • Lift the deck monthly, remove sediment from the tray and clean the nozzles and inlet filter.

  • Check the push plate, dust covers and shower pull rod for free movement, and the valve packing for weeping.

  • Annually verify flow rates, inspect the tray for corrosion or distortion at the outlet, and re-tag the station.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154 for combination emergency shower and eyewash equipment, including hands-free activation, stay-open shower control, twin eyewash heads delivering a controlled low-pressure flush, and shower coverage for the whole body. Installation must keep the unit on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with the heads at the heights set by the standard.

Applications

Chemical and pharmaceutical plants, laboratories and clean rooms, food and beverage production, battery and semiconductor lines, workshops on upper floors or mezzanines without floor drainage, plant rooms and loading areas where a spill must not spread across the floor.
