Product Overview

This floor-mounted combination emergency shower and eyewash station brings a high-capacity overhead drench shower and a twin-nozzle eyewash basin together on a single 304 stainless steel column, carried on a one-piece stainless steel platform with yellow anti-slip grating. The eyewash is opened by foot pedal so the casualty keeps both hands free to hold the eyelids open, while the shower is started by a pull rod with a yellow triangular handle. Every surface that meets the user is stainless steel or high-visibility yellow, which makes the station easy to find, easy to clean and suitable for wet, corrosive or washdown environments.

Key Features

  • All-stainless construction – 304 stainless steel column, pipework, shower arm and platform resist corrosion and chemical splash; the polished surface wipes clean and will not rust in wet process areas.

  • Hands-free foot pedal – step on the stainless foot pedal to start the eyewash flow and release it to stop; both hands stay free for holding the eyelids open during flushing.

  • Overhead drench shower – large-diameter deluge head with pull rod and yellow triangular handle; the stay-open ball valve keeps the shower running while contaminated clothing is removed.

  • Twin spray heads – two aerated eyewash nozzles angled upward flush both eyes at once at low pressure, each protected by a flip-top dust cover that is lifted by the water flow.

  • Anti-slip grating platform – removable yellow grating sits inside a stainless frame with hazard-striped chamfered edges, defining a clear standing area and giving sure footing when the floor is wet.

  • High-visibility marking – yellow and black hazard striping on the column and platform edge helps users locate the station quickly in a crowded plant.

  • Stable floor mounting – the wide platform base spreads the load and keeps the unit upright during emergency use; it is simply anchored to a level, load-bearing floor.

  • Factory assembled and tested – each unit is assembled and pressure and flow tested before packing, so commissioning on site is a matter of connection and verification.

Operation

  1. On chemical splash or eye contact, reach the station within 10 seconds of the hazard and stand on the yellow grating platform.

  2. For eye or face exposure, step on the foot pedal to start the eyewash; both hands remain free to hold the eyelids open and roll the eyes so water reaches every surface.

  3. For body contamination, pull the triangular handle downward to open the shower; the stay-open valve keeps the deluge running without being held.

  4. Flush for a minimum of 15 minutes, removing contaminated clothing under the running water, then seek medical attention.

  5. After use, release the foot pedal and lift the shower rod to close the valves; the grating lifts out for cleaning and the platform drains freely.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Position the station on a level, load-bearing floor close to the hazard zone, with a clear approach path and no obstructions within the ANSI 10-second travel distance.

  • Anchor the platform through the base holes, then connect the 1-1/4" NPT / G water supply to the column inlet.

  • Flush the supply piping before connection to remove debris, then check every joint for leaks at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa working pressure.

  • Verify shower flow and eyewash flow, confirm that the foot pedal returns freely and the shower valve stays open when released.

  • Fix the identification sign at eye level and record the commissioning date on the inspection tag.

Maintenance

  • Activate the shower and eyewash weekly to confirm operation and to flush the supply line.

  • Clean the spray heads, inlet filters and dust covers monthly; remove scale, sediment and any debris from the nozzles.

  • Lift out the yellow grating and clean the platform and frame regularly so that water drains away and no residue builds up.

  • Inspect the foot pedal linkage and the pull rod for free travel, and check the column and platform for corrosion or mechanical damage.

  • Record every inspection; replace worn seals, dust covers or damaged spray heads promptly.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154 for emergency eyewash and drench shower equipment: a hands-free, stay-open activation, twin eyewash heads delivering a controlled low-pressure flush, and a deluge shower head that provides full-body coverage.

Installation must keep the unit within 10 seconds' travel of the hazard, on the same level as the risk area, with the shower head and eyewash at the heights required by the applicable standard. Where the local standard calls for tepid water, an optional thermostatic mixing valve can be supplied.

Applications

Chemical and petrochemical plants, research and university laboratories, pharmaceutical production, food and beverage processing, battery and semiconductor manufacturing, paint and coating lines, water treatment works and any washdown area where acids, alkalis, solvents or hot liquids are handled.
