RYFHS-ER-04 Stainless Steel Enclosed Emergency Shower and Eyewash Room with Folding Door, Hazard Striping and Side Drain Outlet

Product Overview

The RYFHS-ER-04 is a fully enclosed cabinet-type emergency shower and eyewash room in stainless steel. Unlike booth builds that rely on a glass leaf or a strip curtain, this unit has solid stainless steel walls on every side and a white folding door across the full front, so the enclosure contains splash, spray and contaminated run-off almost completely. Yellow and black hazard striping runs across the outer panels, the header carries green English signage reading EMERGENCY SHOWER-EYEWASH with shower and eyewash pictograms, and the floor is a perforated stainless plate over a collection base with a threaded drain outlet projecting from the side of the cabinet near the floor. Inside, a stainless riser carries an umbrella shower head with a coloured spray face and a twin-nozzle eyewash bowl with a green PUSH plate.

Why a Fully Closed Cabinet Needs an Occupancy Plan

This is the most sealed configuration in the range, and that is exactly what creates its one serious weakness: with solid panels and a closed folding door, nobody outside can see who is inside. A person who collapses during flushing is invisible from the walkway until someone opens the door. Sites that install a closed cabinet without addressing this have bought containment and given up rescue visibility, and the trade is a bad one if nothing replaces it.

There are three workable answers and every installation should have at least one: a switch on the door or on the activation linkage that sounds a local alarm when the station is in use; a door that cannot latch and that swings open on its own once released; or a written check folded into the shift round that physically opens the cabinet. Whichever is chosen, it has to be tested at commissioning rather than assumed.

Two further points follow from the closed construction. Containment is only as good as the drain: the side outlet must discharge freely to a gully or channel, and if it is blocked the base fills and overflows at the door line. And the interior holds humidity after every use, so the cabinet needs to be left open to dry or ventilated, otherwise the stainless develops tea staining and the bowl grows biofilm between tests.

Key Features

  • Fully enclosed stainless steel 304 cabinet with solid panels on all sides and a white folding door across the front.

  • Green English header signage, EMERGENCY SHOWER-EYEWASH with shower and eyewash pictograms, ready for export markets without relabelling.

  • Yellow and black hazard striping on the outer panels for identification at distance; a visibility marking, not a structural element.

  • White folding door that gathers to one side, so the unit needs no door swing clearance in front of it.

  • Perforated stainless steel floor plate over a collection base, keeping the standing surface clear of standing water.

  • Threaded side drain outlet at low level, discharging by gravity to a floor gully or channel.

  • Stainless steel 304 umbrella shower head with a coloured spray face, and a twin-nozzle eyewash bowl with a green PUSH plate.

  • Internal frame ribs and panel joints visible in the photographs, giving a stiff box that holds its shape when the door is operated repeatedly.

  • Supplied in a fumigation-free plywood export crate, so it can ship by sea without heat treatment paperwork.

Installation and Commissioning

  1. Set the unit on a level base with the side drain outlet facing a gully or channel, and confirm the outlet falls freely with no uphill run in the discharge path.

  2. Connect the water inlet and flush the line with the strainer removed before the unit is put into service.

  3. Check that the folding door opens from inside without a key and without a latch, and that its panels do not pinch at the hinge line when wet.

  4. Operate the PUSH plate and the shower and confirm both hold open without being held, and that the spray covers the standing position without hitting the door.

  5. Run the shower at full flow and watch the drain outlet and the floor plate: the base must not back up, and water must not escape at the door line.

  6. Agree, install and test the occupancy indication — alarm, non-latching door or shift check — and record the chosen method in the commissioning file.

Operation and Maintenance

Weekly: open the cabinet, operate the shower and the eyewash for at least three minutes, confirm the base drains and the floor plate is clear, and leave the door open to dry.

Monthly: clean the interior panels and the bowl, check the drain outlet for blockages, and confirm the folding door runs freely and does not latch shut.

Quarterly: descale the eyewash nozzles and the shower head face, inspect the panel joints and the frame ribs for corrosion or loose fixings, and check the hazard striping for peeling.

Annually: verify flow rates against the commissioning record, inspect the base and the outlet thread for corrosion, and re-test the occupancy indication with the site's emergency team.

Standards and Compliance

The shower and eyewash are designed to ANSI Z358.1-2014 figures: 15 minutes of flushing with tepid water at 20–37 °C, hands-free activation, and a location within ten seconds of the hazard. The closed cabinet is not covered by that standard and relaxes none of it; head height, bowl height and unobstructed access must be verified with the folding door open, and the door must never be locked. Because the enclosure is sealed, the discharge from the side outlet is contaminated water and must go to drainage permitted by the site's environmental rules. Any lighting or alarm fitted inside a classified area must be selected for the zone.

Applications

Indoor chemical handling rooms, battery charging areas, plating lines, paint kitchens and process buildings where splash must be kept away from adjacent equipment and where a door swing would obstruct a walkway. The English signage and export crate suit distributors and projects buying for sites outside China.

Ordering

State the model RYFHS-ER-04, the overall size required, the inlet and drain outlet sizes, the signage language, and whether an activation alarm or internal lighting is to be included. Confirm the drainage arrangement at the outlet before the base is prepared, and confirm the head and bowl heights against the standard for your jurisdiction. The unit is shipped in a fumigation-free plywood crate; state the destination port and whether the crate is to be opened for inspection on arrival.
