Orange and white is the layout used on roads, construction sites and industrial plants, where the sock has to be read by drivers and operators rather than pilots. It works well by day — orange against sky, white against darker structures — but after dark an unlit cone disappears, and a wind indicator that cannot be read at night is not much use on a site working shifts.
This unit adds two rectangular LED floodlights on a bracket at the top of the pole, aimed down the length of the cone, so both the direction and the amount of extension stay visible after dark. The assembly is supplied complete: cone, swivel frame, stainless steel pole and lighting.
Safety colours for road and site use – orange and white match the cones, barriers and markings crews already read, so the sock belongs to the same visual language.
Two lamps, not one – light aimed along the cone from two sides keeps the segment boundaries crisp instead of flattening the colours into grey.
Extension stays readable – the illuminated cone still shows how far it is extended, which is how the sock indicates wind strength.
One installation – pole, frame, cone and lights arrive matched, so no bracket has to be adapted on site.
Dual LED floodlights – two rectangular lamps on a top bracket, adjustable and lockable.
Orange and white segmented cone – reinforced mouth, replaceable on the frame.
Stainless steel pole – corrosion resistant, with cable route down the outside.
Swivel frame – free rotation so the cone faces the wind.
Complete assembly – cone, frame, pole, bracket and cable supplied together.
Replaceable parts – cone and lamps individually renewable without replacing the mast.

Position clear of buildings, trees and crane booms, visible from the approach or work area it serves.
Set the pole height so the cone sits above eye level and above nearby obstructions; fix the base.
Check the swivel turns freely through a full circle before hanging the cone.
Hang the cone with the reinforced mouth to the wind and confirm it hangs straight in calm air.
Fit the LED bracket, aim both lamps down the cone, and lock them.
Run the cable down the pole, connect through an isolator, and check the cone is evenly lit from mouth to tip at night.
Weekly: check both lamps work and the cone turns freely.
Monthly: clean lamp lenses and check the cone for tears or a stretched mouth.
Quarterly: inspect the swivel, bracket fixings and cable gland; check the pole and base for corrosion.
Annually: renew a faded cone, re-aim the lamps if the surroundings changed, and check the earth connection.
The unit provides a segmented wind direction indicator with lighting for night use. Whether the colour layout and the illumination meet the requirements of a particular site — road, port, plant or aerodrome — depends on local rules for wind indicators and on the siting, so those should be confirmed for each installation. Electrical work, isolators and earthing must be carried out to the local code by a competent person.
Construction and highway sites, ports and terminals, quarries, chemical and petrochemical plants, laydown yards, and industrial sites working shifts where the sock has to be read after dark.
Order by model RYWS-OW-LED-01. Please state cone length, pole height, supply voltage, mounting arrangement and whether an unlit orange and white cone or a red and white illuminated assembly is preferred. Unlit cones in orange and white, solid orange reflective and solid red reflective, and complete sets with pole and base plate, are available separately.
