Product Overview

A 53 litre eye wash that hangs on a wall. The orange HDPE tank carries a moulded bracket on each side, so it fixes to a wall, a column or a container side where no water line exists; the black tray folds down to uncover twin nozzles with orange caps and start the flow. Water is poured in through the cap on top and gravity does the rest.

The label on the front is written for the person who has never used one: three numbered steps with drawings, the capacity, and the standard the unit was designed to — ANSI Z358.1-2014. At the moment it is needed, nobody has to work anything out.

Where It Fits

  • Walls with no services – plant rooms, stores, container walls, temporary cabins, gatehouses.

  • Where a cart would walk away – fixed to the wall it stays where it was installed, so it is there at the next shift.

  • Tight floor space – nothing standing on the floor, nothing to trip over, no castors to brake.

  • Over a drain or tray – the tray starts the flow and the water leaves the front of the unit, so mounting over a channel or a shallow tray keeps the floor dry.

53 Litres and What It Gives

  • Roughly five minutes – at a nominal 11.4 L/min eyewash flow, 53 L is about five minutes of flushing. Measure the real figure on site and mark it on the unit.

  • Still a first-response unit – five minutes is not the fifteen-minute facility the standard asks for; it buys the time to reach a plumbed station.

  • Fewer refills – enough for several weekly tests plus an incident before it needs filling again.

  • Manageable weight when full – filled on the wall through the top cap, so it never has to be carried full.

Construction

  • 53 L orange HDPE tank – moulded body, fill cap on top, bracket moulded into each side.

  • Black flip-down tray – covers the nozzles when closed; folds down to start the flow and form the bowl.

  • Twin nozzles – orange caps, set inside the tray at eye height.

  • Front label – three-step pictogram instructions, capacity and standard reference.

  • Wall brackets – two side lugs for bolting to a wall or column.

Installation and Weekly Care

  1. Fix the two side brackets at the height that puts the nozzles at eye level for the shortest regular user, over a drain, channel or tray.

  2. Check the wall or column takes the weight of a full tank plus someone leaning into the tray.

  3. Fill through the top cap with clean tepid water and close it firmly.

  4. Fold the tray down and confirm both nozzles run clear and even.

  5. Weekly: drain and refill, run the unit briefly, wipe the tray and caps.

  6. Record the measured flush duration on the unit so the next user knows what it delivers.

Maintenance

  • Weekly water change is the main task; standing water in a tank is where contamination starts.

  • Monthly: check the bracket fixings, the tray hinge and the cap seal.

  • Quarterly: sanitise and rinse the tank; check the front label for legibility.

  • Annually: inspect the tank moulding for crazing, especially around the brackets and the tray hinge.

Standards and Compliance

The unit is designed to meet ANSI Z358.1-2014 eyewash requirements for flow and hands-free operation, but a gravity tank is limited by its volume: at eyewash flow, 53 L gives roughly five minutes, not fifteen. Treat it as a first-response station that leads to a plumbed unit, measure and mark the duration it actually provides, change the water weekly, keep it tepid where the standard requires it, and keep it within about ten seconds of the hazard with a clear approach and visible signage.

Applications

Plant rooms and stores, container and cabin walls, gatehouses, temporary works, workshops without water, battery bays, and any wall position above a drain or tray where a fixed plumbed station is not practical.
