Product Overview

A heavy-duty combination shower and eyewash in green, with explosion-proof control gear on the column, delivered as a complete unit standing on its own collection platform: a stainless deck with a perforated field, a deep skirt marked with yellow and black hazard striping, and a drain outlet at the edge.

The base is the point of the design. Water from the shower and from the eyewash lands on the deck and is carried to the outlet, so the station can stand on a finished floor, a mezzanine, a deck or a slab with no drain under it — and the weekly test does not turn the floor around it into a puddle.

Why a Collection Base

  • No floor drain needed – the runoff is caught and piped away from the platform edge instead of running across the floor.

  • Testing is clean – weekly activation can be done on the platform without mopping afterwards, which is the usual reason weekly tests get skipped.

  • Contained runoff – where the contaminant is a chemical, the water collected can be routed to the site's treatment point rather than spreading.

  • Defined standing area – the deck marks where the user should stand and keeps them out of whatever is on the floor around it.

  • Visible edge – hazard striping on the skirt stops people walking into the platform and catches the eye from a distance.

Platform Build

  • Perforated stainless deck – water passes through the field and runs to the outlet; the deck can be lifted for cleaning.

  • Deep skirt – forms the collection tray and stiffens the platform.

  • Hazard striping – yellow and black on the skirt, the edge that is most often walked into.

  • Drain outlet at the edge – hose or pipe connection to a gully or container.

  • Column bolted to the deck – the station and platform are one assembly, so the column cannot be knocked out of position.

Station Build

  • Green heavy column – square section with the platform bolted underneath.

  • Stainless shower head – forward arm, wide pattern.

  • Stainless eyewash basin – twin nozzles, PUSH sign on the bracket.

  • Triangular pull rod – stainless, stay-open shower valve.

  • Explosion-proof control box – mounted on the column, buttons and protected cable entries, braided hoses to the eyewash.

Installation

  1. Set the platform on a level base; the deck must sit flat so water runs to the outlet rather than pooling in a corner.

  2. Bolt or anchor the platform down, and check the column is plumb before the supply is connected.

  3. Connect the drain outlet to a gully or container, with a fall along the whole run.

  4. Connect the supply with an upstream isolation valve and flush the line.

  5. Bring the electrical supply in through the protected gland; check the box marking against the area classification.

  6. Run the shower onto the deck and confirm water reaches the outlet without standing on the perforated field.

Operation and Maintenance

  • Weekly: operate the shower and the eyewash onto the deck, check both flows, confirm the deck drains fully, wipe basin and nozzles.

  • Monthly: lift the deck and clear debris from the tray; check the striping for damage and the control box fixings.

  • Quarterly: clean the perforations, check the drain outlet for scale, inspect the column base for corrosion.

  • Annually: insulation resistance test where the box has electrical parts, and a check that the platform has not shifted or settled.

Standards and Compliance

Designed to meet ANSI Z358.1-2014 for shower and eyewash flow, hands-free operation and simultaneous use. A collection platform does not replace a drain: the outlet has to be connected and kept clear, or the platform becomes a tray of standing water. Electrical work in a hazardous area must be carried out by a competent person and match the area classification; siting within about ten seconds of the hazard, tepid water, weekly activation and signage remain site responsibilities.

Applications

Indoor chemical and process areas on finished floors, mezzanines and decks without drainage, loading and drum-filling points, paint and solvent rooms, and any classified position where runoff must be collected rather than spread.

Ordering

Order by model RYFHS-EX-P01. Please state platform size required, drain arrangement, area classification, supply voltage if the control box is powered, inlet size and whether a tepid water mixing valve is needed. Column-only explosion-proof stations, freeze resistant versions and collection-tray models without electrical equipment are also available.
