A combination shower and eyewash for cold sites, protected by electric heat tracing rather than by draining. A control box is mounted on the column and traced cable runs the length of the riser, so the water standing in the column is held above freezing instead of being dumped to a drain when the supply closes.
That makes it the right choice where there is nowhere to drain to, or where the station must be ready to deliver water immediately without waiting for a riser to refill. The trade-off is power: this is the only unit in the range that needs an electrical supply.
Traced riser – heating cable runs alongside the column, warming the water that would otherwise freeze first.
Control box on the column – switches the trace and carries the thermostat setting; visible and accessible at standing height.
No drain required – the station does not depend on a sump or channel under the base, which suits slabs, decks and refurbished buildings.
Immediate water on demand – the riser stays full, so the shower delivers its full flow the moment the valve opens.
Trade-off stated – no power means no protection: a tripped circuit in a hard frost leaves the unit exposed, so the supply and the trace need to be on the maintenance round.
| Heat traced (this unit) | Frost valve unit | |
| Needs power | Yes | No |
| Needs a drain | No | Yes, under the base |
| Water ready | Riser stays full | Refills on opening |
| Best for | Slabs, decks, no-drain positions | Sites without power at the station |
Green column – square-section body with a bolted stainless base plate.
Stainless shower head – on a forward arm, full-body coverage.
Stainless eyewash basin – twin nozzles with caps, set into the column side.
Heat tracing – traced cable along the riser, control box and thermostat on the column.
Valve and fittings – shower and eyewash valves inside the column, accessible for service.

Bolt the base plate to a pad or deck; check the column is plumb.
Connect the supply with an upstream isolation valve, and flush the line before commissioning.
Connect the electrical supply to the control box through a dedicated, protected circuit with earth continuity.
Set the thermostat and confirm the trace warms the riser; check the control box indicates power.
Set the shower and eyewash flows to the figures in the table.
Label the circuit at the distribution board so nobody isolates the trace without knowing what it protects.
Weekly: operate both functions, check the flows, wipe the basin and nozzles, confirm the control box has power.
Monthly: check the trace indicator and the thermostat setting; look for damage to the cable where it enters the column.
Before frost: prove the trace is working by checking the riser warms with the supply closed and no flow; confirm the circuit breaker is labelled and the RCD tests.
Annually: insulation resistance test on the trace and a check of the control box terminals; replace any damaged cable section.
After an outage: re-check the trace before relying on the unit — a station that froze during a power cut may still be split.
Designed to meet ANSI Z358.1-2014 for shower and eyewash flow, hands-free operation and simultaneous use. Freeze protection does not replace tepid water: the standard still expects a supply that is not at freezing temperature, and a traced riser does not warm a cold mains supply on its own. Electrical installation must comply with local requirements and be carried out by a competent person; siting within about ten seconds of the hazard, weekly activation and clear signage remain site responsibilities.
Outdoor process areas on slabs and decks, loading bays, roof-level plant, unheated buildings, cold stores, tank farms and sites where no drain can be provided under the station.
Order by model RYFHS-FR02. Please state supply voltage and phase, inlet size, whether a tepid water mixing valve is required, and the ambient temperature the trace must be designed for. The frost-valve (non-electric) freeze resistant station, standard combination stations and wall-mounted eye washes are also available.
