Product Overview

This station brings the shower and eyewash together on a single column and finishes the whole unit in a green anti-corrosion powder coating. The coating is the reason to choose this model over a bare or polished unit: in coastal sites, humid plant rooms, and areas where acid or alkaline mist settles on surfaces, an uncoated body starts to rust at the welds and edges within a season, while a properly applied powder coat keeps the surface intact and simple to wipe down.

Operation is deliberately simple. The eyewash is started by a foot pedal at the base, connected to the valve by a chain, so both hands stay free for holding the eyelids open. The overhead shower is started by a pull cord with a triangular handle and stays open while clothing is removed.

Why a Powder-Coated Body

  • Corrosion resistance – the coating seals the steel from moisture and chemical mist, which extends service life in coastal and process areas.

  • Colour as identification – the green body is a recognised safety colour and stands out against grey plant and concrete, helping people find the station quickly.

  • Easy to clean – a smooth cured coating wipes down and does not hold dust or chemical residue the way a pitted or scaled surface does.

  • Consistent appearance – the whole unit, column, head, basin and pedal, is finished in the same colour, so a replacement part does not stand out as a patch.

Key Features

  • Chain-linked foot pedal – press to start the eyewash, release to stop; no hands needed and no separate push plate to find with contaminated gloves.

  • Twin spray heads with yellow caps – two aerated nozzles at an upward angle flush both eyes at low pressure; the yellow flip caps keep dust out and make the nozzles easy to spot.

  • Yellow PUSH sign – mounted at the basin with clear operating instructions, so a first-time user knows which part to move.

  • Overhead deluge shower – large bowl-shaped head with a pull cord and triangular handle; the stay-open valve keeps water running without being held.

  • Green anti-corrosion coating – applied over the full body, column, arm, head, basin and pedal.

  • Bolted floor flange – a single column fixed to a level floor; no platform, pit or drain tray required.

  • Single inlet – one 1-1/4 inch connection at the base feeds both shower and eyewash.

Operation

  1. Reach the station within 10 seconds of the hazard and stand facing the basin with one foot on the pedal.

  2. Press the foot pedal to start the eyewash; the chain opens the valve and the flow continues while the pedal is held down.

  3. Put the eyes into the flow, hold the eyelids open with thumbs and forefingers and roll the eyes so water reaches every surface.

  4. For body contamination, pull the triangular cord to start the deluge; the valve stays open until it is pushed back.

  5. Flush for at least 15 minutes, removing contaminated clothing under the running water, then seek medical attention.

  6. Release the pedal and close the shower valve; check the station is clear for the next user.

Installation and Commissioning

  • Position on a level, load-bearing floor on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with clear approach space and room to operate the pedal.

  • Anchor through the floor flange with fixings suited to the floor; check the column is plumb before final tightening.

  • Inspect the coating for transit damage before installation and touch up any chips so the corrosion protection is continuous.

  • Flush the supply line, connect the 1-1/4 inch inlet and pressure test at 0.2 – 0.4 MPa, checking the split to shower and eyewash.

  • Operate the pedal and the pull cord repeatedly; the eyewash must start and stop cleanly and the chain must run free without rubbing the column.

  • Verify flow rates, fit the sign at eye level and record the commissioning date.

Maintenance

  • Weekly: press the pedal and pull the cord to confirm both functions operate and close fully.

  • Monthly: clean the spray heads, caps and bowl; inspect the chain and pedal hinge for wear or slack.

  • Quarterly: wash the coated surfaces and inspect for chips, scratches or rust spots; touch up any damage to keep the coating sealed.

  • Annually: measure flow rates, replace worn seals or nozzles, and re-tag the unit.

Standards and Compliance

The station is designed to the performance requirements of ANSI Z358.1-2014 and EN 15154 for combination emergency shower and eyewash equipment: hands-free eyewash activation by foot pedal, a stay-open shower valve, twin eyewash heads delivering a controlled low-pressure flush, and shower coverage of the whole body. Installation on the same level as the hazard, within 10 seconds' travel, with heads at the heights set by the standard, must be verified at commissioning. The coating is a corrosion-protection finish and does not change these requirements.

Applications

Coastal and offshore sites, chemical and fertiliser plants, plating and pickling lines, water treatment works, food and beverage plants with washdown, and humid or unheated buildings where an uncoated body would corrode quickly.

Ordering

Order by model RY-PC-FP-304. Please state the required body material and colour reference, supply pressure, floor type and basin height when enquiring; a stainless steel version of the same layout is available where the coating is not acceptable for the process.
