A combination shower and eyewash on a green column, freeze protected by trace cable and insulation wrapped around the outside of the eyewash supply line and the exposed pipework. The wrap is visible: a silver, foil-faced sleeve runs along the side of the column between the supply flange and the basin.
There is no control box on the column. The trace controller sits remotely, so the station itself carries no electronics — which is the reason this version suits installations where the electrical gear is kept in a plant room or an existing panel.
Trace on the outside – heating cable is applied along the pipe and covered with insulation, warming the water in the line that feeds the eyewash.
Visible and serviceable – the wrap can be inspected, opened and repaired from the ground; nothing is buried inside a column.
No electronics at the station – controller remote, so there is no enclosure to open in the rain and no local isolator to be tampered with.
Retrofit friendly – the same approach can be applied to an existing station whose line freezes, without replacing the column.
Trade-off stated – external wrap is exposed to knocks, UV and water ingress at the ends; the sleeve and its end seals are the parts that need looking at.
Green square column – painted steel, bolted stainless base plate.
Stainless shower head – forward arm, full-body coverage.
Stainless eyewash basin – twin nozzles, on a side bracket with a green PUSH sign.
Wrapped eyewash line – trace cable and foil-faced insulation sleeve around the supply pipe.
Flanged connections – inlet flange on the column side, base flange at the foot.

Bolt the base plate to a pad and check the column is plumb.
Connect the flanged inlet with an upstream isolation valve and flush the line before use.
Check the wrap runs the full length of the exposed line with no gaps at the ends, and that end seals are intact.
Connect the trace to its remote controller, confirm earth continuity and set the thermostat.
With the supply closed, confirm the line warms along its whole length — feel the wrap, do not rely on the controller alone.
Set the shower and eyewash flows to the table figures and record the trace setpoint.
Weekly: operate both functions, check flows, wipe basin and nozzles.
Monthly: inspect the wrap for splits, loose tape and damaged end seals; check the cable where it leaves the sleeve.
Before frost: confirm the remote controller is powered and set, and feel the wrap warm with the supply closed.
Annually: insulation resistance test on the trace and renewal of any wrap that has lost its foil or absorbed water.
After damage: re-wrap and re-seal before the next frost — an open end lets water into the insulation and the protection fails where it is needed.
Designed to meet ANSI Z358.1-2014 for shower and eyewash flow, hands-free operation and simultaneous use. Freeze protection does not replace tepid water: a traced line keeps water from freezing but does not warm a cold supply to a comfortable temperature. Electrical work must comply with local requirements; siting within about ten seconds of the hazard, weekly activation and clear signage remain site responsibilities.
Outdoor process areas, tank farms, loading bays, unheated buildings, and existing stations being winterised where the electrical control gear is kept in a plant room rather than at the unit.
Order by model RYFHS-FR05. Please state inlet size, supply voltage and phase, trace length required, the lowest ambient temperature, and whether a tepid water mixing valve is needed. The frost-valve station, the heat-traced stations with column-mounted control, and the hazardous-area version are also available.
