Most eyewash equipment is bought against a tender, a site standard or an EHS audit finding. That changes what matters: the questions are about material grade, activation method, freeze protection and paperwork, not about how the unit looks in a catalogue photo.
The default for chemical plants, food production and wash-down areas. Corrosion resistant, easy to clean, and able to take a polished finish. Our RY-SS-FP-304 combination unit uses 304 throughout, including the grating platform.
Specify where chlorides, salt spray or aggressive process chemicals are present. Available on request on the same platform.
Lower cost, suitable for indoor workshops with clean water and no aggressive atmosphere. ABS bowls are common on vertical and wall-mounted stations; coated carbon steel is used for the shower column.
| Foot pedal | Best where the floor is clear and operators wear heavy boots. Hands stay free. |
| Push plate | Wall-mounted stations in laboratories; a large plate is easier to hit than a small button. |
| Pull rod | Combination shower units; the triangular handle stays open once pulled. |
| Hinged platform | Vertical stations where a standing operator steps onto the platform to start the flow. |
Whichever you choose, confirm the valve is stay-open: it must keep running without being held.
An unheated warehouse in northern China or northern Europe will freeze a standard station. Two options exist: a heated enclosure that keeps the unit and its supply above freezing, or a freeze-resistant design that drains the standing water on activation. Choose based on whether the building is heated overnight, not on the lowest temperature ever recorded.
Flow test report at your supply pressure, not a catalogue figure
Material certificate for the wetted parts
Dimensional drawing with mounting centres
Declaration of the standard the unit is built to — ANSI/ISEA Z358.1-2014 or GB/T 38144.1-2019
Spare parts list, particularly spray head assemblies and valve cartridges
The most common problem is supply pressure. A unit rated at 0.2–0.4 MPa will not deliver its stated flow on a gravity-fed line, and the resulting flush is below the required rate. Send us your measured pressure and pipe size and we will confirm the model against it rather than against the datasheet.
Eyewash units look similar in photographs and differ sharply in what arrives on the pallet. When you compare two quotations, line up these five items before you compare the price.
Material grade, stated explicitly. "Stainless steel" is not a specification. Ask for 304 or 316L, and for the wetted parts specifically.
Valve and activation hardware. A stay-open valve with a proper cartridge costs more than a spring-loaded tap. Ask what happens if the handle is released mid-flush.
What is excluded. Floor anchors, grating platforms, sign plates and drain fittings are frequently quoted separately.
Spare parts availability. Spray head assemblies and valve cartridges wear out. Confirm they can be reordered as individual parts, not only as a complete unit.
Documentation. A flow test report and a dimensional drawing should come with the unit, not be quoted as an extra.
A unit that is twenty percent cheaper but needs a new spray head assembly every year is not cheaper over a five-year plant life.
We manufacture eyewash stations, safety showers, portable units and laboratory fittings, and supply OEM and ODM configurations. Send your specification or site standard and we will respond with a matching model and drawing.
